Former WWE Women’s and Hardcore champion Trish Stratus is set to make her singles in-ring return at Evolution in just three weeks. Trish Stratus was one of the most popular WWE superstars throughout the “Attitude” and “Ruthless Aggression” eras, and fans are anxious to see her in a singles match.

Last January at the Royal Rumble, Trish was a surprise participant and among the last five women involved in the contest. Her official final match was fittingly against Lita at Unforgiven on September 17, 2006, where she won the WWE Women’s Championship for the seventh time — the most in WWE history — and the Hall of Famer retired as the champion, a true rarity in the industry.

Evolution marks WWE’s first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view, and Trish Stratus is booked to face Alexa Bliss, and thus far, that match is being promoted as the primary attraction. However, Bliss has been sidelined because of an injury, and the WWE is keeping quiet on any details. Some WWE insiders feel that “Little Miss Bliss” will be ready to compete by Evolution, which takes place on October 28, and that match is still being advertised by the company.

Recently, Natalya Neidhart interviewed the seven-time WWE Women’s champion in her column for the Calgary Sun, and Trish Stratus spoke on being more excited than nervous for Evolution.

“To be honest, I’m more excited than nervous. The fact that I haven’t been in singles competition for seven years (and birthed two children in the meantime!), gives me a bit of nerves, but it also is driving me to train harder than I probably ever have. I feel like I have to prove not just to everyone watching but to myself that I can do this.”

Stratus went on to say that she’s proud and honored to be facing Alexa Bliss. The Hall of Famer said that she’s excited to give the WWE universe a blissfully, “Stratus-fying” experience. She also said that the WWE holding an all-women’s pay-per-view is amazing, and that back in her day, she thought it was incredible for women to get a match on a regular WWE pay-per-view, and now they have an entire event devoted just to the women superstars.

“Canada’s Greatest Export” was a trailblazer in the early 2000s, helping break the stereotype of the gorgeous divas in professional wrestling. When she first arrived, most fans felt that her in-ring work was mediocre at best. For months after he debut, and for years to come, Stratus trained hard and improved her in-ring work, becoming one of the best in the ring and inspiring women worldwide to become professional wrestlers. So, it’s understandable that some of the women on the WWE roster show shades of the former Women’s champion.

Stratus revealed to Natalya which current WWE superstars emulate her, as the Calgary Sun reported.

“I’ve seen some of my signature moves from today’s talent. I don’t blame them, as they are effective moves. Carmella does the Stratusphere, Liv Morgan does The MaTrish … but it’s Alexa Bliss’ in-ring presence that got people talking (and making comparisons).”

Trish Stratus concluded by saying that she is humbled to see shades of herself in Alexa Bliss’ matches, and that’s why their contest at WWE Evolution is so special to her.
