The Green Bay Packers ended up as one of the biggest winners of the NFL Draft. Not only did they revamp their defense with a pair of studs from Georgia but they also landed some promising wideouts to replace Davante Adams.

Then again, while they may be pretty good two years from now, some still feel like the Packers need to give Aaron Rodgers some help right now.

With that in mind, former NFL player Torrey Smith claimed that Odell Beckham Jr. should be as interested in signing with the Packers as the Packers should be interested in signing him:

“I’d say for Odell, what it boils down to really, is what he wants and what he needs, and what that particular match is," Smith said. "And so for me, it's a team that has the opportunity to compete and win, and a team that’s going to be great on the back end. And that's the Green Bay Packers.

Per Smith, the Packers already have a somewhat decent receiving corps, yet adding OBJ is what could take them to a whole new level:

"In their wide receiver room right now, they have a couple of veterans. They have Allen Lazard, they have Sammy Watkins. But to me, you're not getting Odell to help you get to that point. You're getting him at that point in time to help you get over the hump," Smith added.

The Packers lack a big-play threat in their receiving corps now that Davante Adams is gone. That makes it the perfect scenario for OBJ to showcase his talents:

"And that's really the biggest difference, adding that playmaker," Smith explained. "Now, Odell’s the guy that's been there. He's not just the guy that you're adding a vet that can play. He has that Super Bowl experience. I know what it's like personally, to have that experience to help spread that and explain to other guys what it takes to play at that level. But he's also a guy that's proven that he can take his game up a notch.

Rodgers Needs A WR1

OBJ will miss the first couple of months of the season but still, Smith believes that Rodgers is good enough to carry the load while he's able to be back:

"And by the way, Aaron Rodgers, we know he's gonna be good enough to get the Packers to the NFC Championship game again," Smith concluded. "We know that, that's just a given. But with Odell Beckham, I think he can be that missing piece that can get them over the hump.”

We'll have to wait and see but Brian Gutekunst would be crazy not to give him a call.
