MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, a close ally of former President Donald Trump, has made dozens of outlandish, evidence-free claims about alleged voter fraud in the 2020 presidential race.
At the center of most of his conspiracy theories is Dominion Voting Systems, a company whose voting machines were used in the election.
Dominion launched a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit against Lindell in February last year in response to his allegations.
Below is the latest update on this legal battle.
In a Monday court filing, Dominion lawyers asked a judge to move their lawsuit against Lindell forward and dismissed a counterclaim filed by the pillow magnate's attorneys.
As reported by Newsweek, the company's lawyers likened Lindell to a "schoolyard bully."
"The proverbial 'schoolyard bully' who can't take a punch' is not even the right analogy. Lindell and MyPillow are bullies who, after attacking their victim in the schoolyard, claim that the victim is forbidden from going to the nurse to dress his wounds, or to the principal's office to have them held accountable."
Lindell's counterclaims "threaten the rule of law," Dominion lawyers said and "if allowed to proceed, they would impose liability on innumerable parties engaging in ordinary, day-to-day acts of litigation."
The pillow magnate's attorneys are demanding they be given access to Dominion documents. The documents, they claim, prove that the company's voting machines are "connected to the internet, and can be accessed remotely."
Lindell and other pro-Trump conspiracy theorists allege that votes were literally "flipped" from Trump to Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 race.
In a separate court filing last week, Dominion lawyers said that Lindell's legal team is refusing to cooperate and share important documents.
In the filing, they noted that "Lindell and MyPillow also said they are seriously taking appeals from both orders all the way to the United States Supreme Court, if need be."
Dominion is also suing former Trump election lawyers Sidney Powell and Rudy Giuliani. Unlike Lindell's, Giuliani and Powell's legal teams are actually cooperating, according to the company.
There is not and has not been any credible evidence of widespread fraud in the 2020 election, but that hasn't stopped Lindell from making absurd claims.
Most recently, Lindell claimed to possess enough evidence to jail 300 million Americans, almost the entire U.S. population, as reported by The Independent.
"We have all the pieces of the puzzle. You talk about evidence. We have enough evidence to put everyone in prison for life, 300 and some million people, we have that back all the way to November and December," he said on Real America’s Voice.
